So I woke up to the news that Trump has tapped Matt Gaetz to be Attorney General which is kind of more ridiculous than getting Daffy Duck to be Attorney General given that he’s A. morally a piece of shit B. intellectually a fucking moron and C. suspected of sex trafficking a minor and D. he’s got a forehead the size of the ice wall, you know the northern big ice wall in Game of Thrones. So then I got in my car, headed to work and found that somehow my phone had switched on auto sending messages without asking me so now if I’m trying to text somebody or message somebody with Siri, it just sends it after a few seconds when it used to ask me if I wanted to send it or change it.

Now if that’s allowed to continue it means that I will be sending gibberish 99% of the time when I’m using my hands free. Normally I havre to redo any message three or four times before sending.

I did manage to change that back whilst in the car which is probably illegal so don’t tell anyone.

But then I tried to send a message to the band I’m in called Playtime which is via a WhatsApp group called Playtime Future Thinking. So Siri asked “to who”  and I said “Playtime Future Thinking” and Siri decided that I was trying to get it to play a piece of music presumably called Time Future Thinking and it obviously rationally started playing a piece of music called by Grisha Lautenberg, I think that’s the name but anyway you can see it on photo with a gobbledygook song title – 0319 28 FUENF grns 2a1 rej+b2 (…  from the album Re;Phgrp.

And that makes sense, in that it asked me who do I want to send the message to and I said Play Time Future Thinking and it decided that – in the middle of discussing with WhatsApp who I want to send the message to – that meant I wanted to play and it meant that I suddenly wanted to play a piece of music by Time Future Thinking. I Mean it makes more sense than what is happening in the US.

I am recording this on my phone as well and …It keeps on deciding to stop recording this as well for no fucking reason. The theme of the morning is baffling Gobbledygook on every fucking level of the universe. Every single level. Gobbledygook. So… Yeah.

Matt Gaetz being pointed to be Attorney General, I mean what’s the equivalent of that in the UK? Timmy Mallett as Chancellor of the Exchequer,

Jim Davidson as Foreign Secretary. no it’s even more dumb than that.

Mr Blobby as Home Secretary.

No it’s even dumber and more ridiculous than that.

Yeah, it’s Liz Truss as Prime Minister….. that’s how galactically dumb it is and completely ridiculous it is.

So, yeah we could have already done this. Well the first thing says that there’s this white privilege, not exactly white, there is a European, Western industrialised democracy privilege thing of feeling outrage at how could we possibly have such a ridiculous situation here or in the US.

“I mean this sort of thing happens in third world countries, with brown people right? Where they have real corruption right?” ( This point  is the subject of an amazing essay by the brilliant Mona Eltahawy called ‘White Democrats’ a day or two before the US election.

So there is part of our own outrage which  is frankly offensive when viewed from there.

Why should we be protected from governments of corruption and venality when we vote like morons when we are scared?

But the second issue is, once you can get over processing the Mona Eltahawy perspective, many of us were here the night Boris Johnson got elected with a huge majority and yes he did manage to “get Brexit done” whatever that meant. But look what happened to him, you know, so the hope is, is that, well, you can’t possibly have the morons that he is choosing to be his cabinet, the yes mens, the epic bullshitters and grifters, without it coming to a sticky end. Surely. The universe still has some logic under the hood somewhere. Doesn’t it?

No, it’s not going to be good. Like, don’t get me wrong.

It’s not going to be good, but hopefully it’s going to be an absolute shit show for two years and then the American people are going to wake up and vote Democrat in the Senate and the House until it’s time. And in the meantime the Democrats might actually find some progressive vision, find a way of speaking directly to working people,  and work out not to support a genocide.

So, yeah. try to cling on to fucking threads of sanity here.

Imagine being Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, and Marco Rubio, you know, on the surface, maybe eight years ago a bright, articulate Latino politician with a future, and then he spent the last eight years being a total asshole and then has been ridiculed by Trump as little Marco. And he has to in private think that Trump’s a piece of shit.

He has to, but here he is now as Secretary of State kissing Trump’s arse as he climbs the greasy pole

The level of personal corruption that these people are putting themselves through, and they must lie awake, and I go, what the fuck am I doing?

They must do. Some of them.

And if there’s a bit of them going, this is worth it to own the libs or just protect America from ‘wokeism’, there’s still got to be another bit in there going, but is it though?
